Every so often a TV phenomenon will hit our screens, gripping us and eradicating our need for a social life, we had 24, Game of Thrones and now we have Stranger Things. With bonkers theories, petitions for Barb’s revival in the form of #JusticeforBarb and the sales of Eggo waffles going through the roof, it’s pretty safe to say that Stranger Things was TV’s ‘It’ thing for 2016.

Stranger Things Season 2 Trailer
The season 2 trailer was released as a TV spot during the Super Bowl and although it doesn’t reveal a lot, it has some pretty interesting ideas within.
So, when does Stranger Things season 2 start?
Stranger Things series 2 airs on Netflix on October 27, 2017.
What is Stranger Things season 2 all about?
Netflix released a synopsis: "A year after Will’s return, everything seems back to normal… but a darkness lurks just beneath the surface, threatening all of the Hawkins." The ‘world has turned upside down’ teaser, of course refers to the parallel dimension The Upside Down which inhabits The Monster, a creature that held Will Byers captive. It seems perfectly normal that after suffering a trauma of this magnitude that Will begins to question what’s real and what isn’t, his life has been turned upside down after all.
The season 2 trailer reveals the lead male characters dressed up in Ghostbusters costumes for Halloween, perhaps extinguishing the evil that’s about to come? Anything is possible in this show. The trailer also finishes with a giant ‘thing’ that looks like an alien warship from War of the Worlds signifying a much greater evil than season 1.
Which cast members are returning for Stranger Things season 2?
Although most of the original cast are remaining, new cast member, Sadie Sink, who plays Max (pictured on the far right) will act as a ‘suspicious’ character who catches the eyes of Lucas and Dustin but as of yet, we do not know much about her character other than the fact that she has the classic ‘who do you think you’re talking to!?’ look on her face.
However, the first episode of Season 2 is entitled ‘Madmax’ which may suggest this character is slightly unhinged. Dacre Montgomery will also join the show as Billy, an overconfident, macho 17-year old. Although the show sent out a casting call for a 30-38-year-old, male or female character named Roman, there has been no emergence of the actor portraying the role.
Unfortunately, there has also been no confirmation of Barb’s ‘back from the dead’ revival but co-creator Ross Duffer suggested that Nancy and Mike will struggle with their grief for friends Barb and Eleven and the superseding drama that follows, which might suggest their panic-stricken faces in the photo below.
The trailer shows David Harbour’s Chief Hopper return as well. It was teased by the show’s creators that Hopper will continue to juggle with his new mantle of responsibility, does he protect the children by keeping the strange away or does he take it upon himself to involve them?
In other parts of the trailer, the characters seem to be grappling school life and paranormal life, below shows Will fresh from capture, returning to school with a horrendous bowl cut that only the 80’s could be responsible for, and looking incredibly isolated amidst the crowd of kids.
Is Eleven Alive?
With Millie Bobby Brown posting a picture on Instagram entitled ‘world upside down’ it seems assured that her character Eleven will return. And of course there was the whole Eggo boxes that Hopper leaves out for her in the forest which surely means she'll be back.
Will there be some famous faces in Stranger Things 2?
Director of new release Split, M.Night Shyamalan has voiced his interest in helming an episode in Season 3, whilst Sean Astin and Paul Reiser who appeared in The Goonies and Aliens will appear.

It's been confirmed that there's going to be a Stranger Things series 3, the Duffer Brothers revealed in an interview with Vulture that a third season was definitely happening and a fourth season was likely.
Ross Duffer said: "I don’t want to call it season two, I just want it to feel like a movie sequel. If you have a successful movie, No. 2 is always a little bit bigger.
"We’re thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out."
