Gavin & Stacey's Larry Lamb and Ruth Jones

Believe it or not, it has been seven months since THAT cliffhanger ending between Nessa and Smithy on the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special, and we still wonder at least twice a week what is next for the fictional couple.

With reports of the cast creating more series, lockdown would have been the perfect opportunity for writers James Corden and Ruth Jones to write some further episodes, but so far nothing has been revealed.

However, rumour has it a Gavin & Stacey movie has also been discussed, and Larry Lamb, who plays Mick Shipman in the hit BBC series, appeared on Loose Women to update fans.

Speaking to Andrea McLean, Denise Welch, Saira Khan and Coleen Nolan via a video chat, Larry was asked about the potential of a Gavin & Stacey movie, saying, "I remember talking to James [Corden] about the whole thing of having had 10 years of being asked if it was coming back, then you do the Christmas special and you’re back answering the same question."

Check out the Gavin & Stacey cast then and now:

Larry added: "It’s a drug the nation is hooked on. I don’t know if there is [a movie]. I’d love it if there is.”

Despite being in lockdown like the rest of us for the last few months, it appears Larry has been keeping himself very busy.

Speaking on the show, Larry revealed he's written a novel, saying, “I’ve been in the country in Herefordshire, locked away completely. For me, it was a real plus, being deep in the country, you could walk out in the lanes.

"It was a huge advantage to me because I’d had a story I’d been hanging onto for about 30 odd years. I came up with it when I was about 40 and figured I wasn’t going to be the next Robert de Niro so I was looking for a way to do something else.

"I had an idea about someone who works behind the camera, in the film business. It’s basically all about those people behind the scenes.”
