GBBO: Was Tudor Week the RUDEST one yet?

Jousting sticks ahoy

Last night's Great British Bake Off was bursting with the usual banter and baking innuendoes. It was Tudor Week and Mel and Sue were armed and ready with many a historical quip.

Things got off to a cheeky start over some leaky pies and then we could have sworn Mary Berry was actually FLIRTING with possibly the most zen contestant ever (and also baking FITLORD), Selasi Gbormittah.

There was alcohol in his marzipan and Mary just couldn't contain herself.

Some viewers are even suggesting that Tudor Week was the rudest yet.

Particularly after Andrew Smyth's ill-placed caramel jousting poles (that's not something we thought we'd ever say) caused a bit of a stir on Twitter.

Rather than placing the caramel jousting pole in the hands of his marzipan knight (you know, like everyone else would duhh), Andrew opted to rest the caramel covered nut-shard in between the marzipan knight's legs.

GBBO fans went in to absolute meltdown as the camera panned to a rather compromising side shot of the knight.

One person wrote: "Always difficult to get your jousting pole in the right position. #GBBO"

Even the Bake Off themselves got involved.

Paul Hollywood could barely contain himself as he suggested: "The jousting pole really should have gone in the hand."

We’d already lost it a few moments earlier when Andrew muttered, "I don’t think Mary is going to want to see any cracks," while constructing his marzipan masterpiece.

There was no going back.

Spoiler alert: do not read ahead if you don’t want find out who gets the boot.

As the show drew to a close, Twitter went into meltdown when one baker's exit meant the end of a beautiful TV friendship.

As we waved goodbye to Benjamina Ebuehi, social media was thankful the mighty Selasi would live to bake another week.

But while they were glad Selasi stayed in, fans were saddened by the thought of a Bake Off without the chemistry between the two bakers.

One fan tweeted: "Goodness I will miss these two together."

Selasi even took to Twitter himself to share his thoughts on Benjamina leaving. He wrote: "Sister from another country, keep on baking missy. U're a good egg and an awesomely talented baker. Learned a few tricks from u. God Bless [sic]"

We can’t wait to see what rudeness GBBO has in store for us next week.
