One to watch out for on The X Factor tonight is 25-year-old Lauren Murray, from North West London.

The dental receptionist – who has never appeared on a reality show before – turned up to auditions without her friends and family and told her boss that she was sick. But it paid off as she wowed the judges with her rendition of Jocelyn Brown’s Somebody Else's Guy to bag herself four yeses.

And if she gets through to live Judges’ Houses, Lauren tells us: “I think they will be calling me an ambulance because I think I’ll be having a heart attack. I think someone needs to be trained in CPR. I don’t want anyone to come to the live shows if I get through, I don’t want to feel any extra pressure, if I’m out I’m out and if I’m in I’m in. It’s too much for me.”

But is she worried about those extreme X Factor makeovers and what they might change about her? “Oh my God, my hair,” Lauren explains. "It broke off because I was going red-black, red-black, and then it all just dropped out, so now I’m so possessive over my hair.”

If fame and fortune does come knocking after the show airs, Lauren’s adamant she won’t be settling down with any admirers. “I’m just concentrating on this,” she added. "I haven’t got time for boys, they’re all idiots.” Fair play.

And when Lauren’s boss watches the show tomorrow night, he won’t be shocked to see her perform.

Lauren adds: “I don’t want to see the audition back, it’s so cringy. I’m always getting in trouble at work for being late, I’m always singing. My boss has actually been really supportive.”

We reckon he might need to find himself a new receptionist…
