Harry Styles ‘coaching Nick Grimshaw how to stay on right side of Simon Cowell ahead of X Factor’

Nick Grimshaw hasn’t even started in his judging role on The X Factor yet but he’s already getting tips on how to keep Simon Cowell on side.

Pal Harry Styles has given the BBC Radio 1 DJ a number of pointers so that he stays in the music mogul’s good books.

Nick has apparently been told to never complain about Si’s smoky breath and to avoid all conversations about plastic surgery.

He’s also been given some inside information on how the ITV show works behind the scenes and how he can make a splash as a judge.

A source told the Daily Star Sunday: “As soon as Nick signed the contract he knew the best person to advise him on how to deal with his new boss was his BFF Harry.

“He’s had five years’ experience of having Simon as his chief and wants to ensure Nick is prepared to deal with him and the show.”

Nick has apparently been told not to suck up to Simon and that he shouldn’t be afraid to challenge his opinions.

And if Simon’s in a grumpy mood, Nick should simply give him a cold beer, some butterscotch Angel Delight and hand him some pictures of cute dogs and cats whilst talking about cartoons.

The insider added: “As long as Nick follows Harry’s lead he is confident he can become Simon’s ‘golden boy’ and stay on the show.”
