ITV have cancelled tonight’s episode of Jekyll & Hyde.

Charlie Higson, the show’s writer, revealed the decision was made in light of Friday’s shock shootings in Paris.

Sharing a peace sign symbol with the Eiffel Tower inside, he wrote: ‘Tonight’s episode of Jekyll & Hyde has been postponed in consideration of recent events in Paris.’

When a user suggested that doing so meant "terrorists had won", he replied: ‘Not at all. We are just trying to be sensitive. Lots of TV schedules will have been changed this weekend out of sensitivity and respect.’

No official reason has been given for the episode being pulled, however, the show’s synopsis described a situation where a ‘gunfight ensues.’

A spokesperson for ITV added the programme will be replaced by Celebrity Chase at 6.30, then a special news bulletin at 7.30 covering the tragic attacks. The X Factor and I*’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here* will continue at their scheduled times.
