Jay McGuiness opens up about ‘romance’ with Strictly Come Dancing partner Aliona Vilani

Jay was pictured cosying up to his Strictly Come Dancing partner Aliona Vilani after they won the show on Saturday night and some viewers even thought they saw them kiss on the lips during the final.

But it seems they're nothing more than friends and Jay is even good pals with Aliona's husband Vincent Kavanagh.

On any romance between him and Aliona, former The Wanted singer Jay said on Lorraine today: "I think when you dance with someone you have to create romance and people want to see that.

“No matter what I say people will say what they want. We’re just friends. Me, her and her husband and my family, we just became a big family.

“Honestly you spend that much time together you speak about everything. No matter what happens you get a best friend.”

Meanwhile, the ex boyband star admits he had a helping hand during the final at the weekend - whisky.

He was given a quick drink backstage that helped him feel a little lighter on his feet.

Jay said: “A lovely TV executive called Louise gifted us some whisky so I was a little bit warm during that. A wee nip.” Cheeky!

And what are his plans now the series is over? Well, after recently claiming he'd be job hunting after the Strictly tour, he's going to be paying close attention to his dancing.

He said: "I'm going to take a week off and watch the whole series now."

Well done, Jay! You deserve it.
