Earlier this morning Chris Evans got all excited on Sunday Brunch and let slip he was filming something for Top Gear this week.
But former hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May don’t seem to be too keen on the idea.
The trio have taken shots at radio DJ Chris on Twitter after he announced the news today.
Jeremy wrote: “Next week, I’m doing a pilot Radio 2 breakfast show with an independent production company. We’ll see how it goes.”
Richard added: “Next week I’m doing a pilot of The Two Show on Fridays with an independent production company. We’ll see how it goes.”
And James tweeted: “I’m working on a new TV idea, with an independent production company, called TFI Thursday. We’ll see how it goes.”
Jeremy was fired from Top Gear in March after becoming embroiled in a “fracas” with show staff member Oisin Tymon.
After he was given the boot, co-presenters Richard and James handed in their resignations.
Chris was one of the names tipped to replace Jeremy and front the series but he previously denied he’d got the job.
However, during today’s Sunday Brunch, he said: “[I’ve] not started yet, but we are doing a secret Top Gear film on Tuesday.”
When the Channel 4 show’s presenter Tim Lovejoy said “It’s not so secret now”, Chris continued: “It still will be, because nobody knows where it’s going to be but we’re going to make one and see how it goes.
“We’re making a Top Gear – we’re doing a Top Gear sequence with an independent production company and we’re going to see how it goes.”
