Dawson’s Creek fans have been dreaming about a reboot of the classic teen drama for years – and now it really could be happening. But it looks like that might not be the only reunion on the cards as heat has been told two of the show’s cast have grown close again.
Amid his bitter divorce from Jodie Turner-Smith, Joshua Jackson, 47, was recently spotted enjoying dinner with former co-stars Katie Holmes, 46, Michelle Williams, 44, and Busy Philipps, 45, who are all said to be on board to bring the TV show back. Even more exciting is the news that Joshua and ex-girlfriend Katie reportedly the restaurant left in a car together, with a source saying Joshua hopes the reboot will help him reignite his romance with Katie.
The source says, ‘Katie and Josh have so much love and admiration for each other. They never lost contact and are both pushing hard for a Dawson’s Creek reunion. That’s looking like a much stronger possibility now, and they both can’t wait to team up and recreate that magic on screen with the old gang. For Joshua, it goes a lot further, though.

‘He’s always looked at Katie as the one that got away, it was a classic case of right girl, wrong timing and as the years rolled by, he’s cursed himself for letting her slip through his fingers. She’s been a rock as he goes through this messy divorce and he’s plucking up the courage to ask her out again romantically. He doesn’t want to spoil a beautiful friendship – but at the same time, he’s firmly of the mindset that life is for living and true love only ever comes around once.’
In April, Joshua said on a podcast that he and Katie – who he dated for a year in 1997, while filming the early seasons of the show – were still ‘very close.’ Katie – who went on to marry Tom Cruise before having a six-year relationship with actor Jamie Foxx – said of Joshua, ‘I fell in love, I had my first love, and it was something so incredible and indescribable that I will treasure it always.’

Our source adds, ‘He was her first true love and in many ways it’s something she’s never replicated since. They were in their own little bubble really, since they played lovers on screen then got to snuggle up aas a couple when the cameras were off. Things fizzled out organically and they needed to go off and do their own thing, they were so young at the time. They’ve stayed in touch and there’s zero awkwardness between them.’
Joshua finalised his divorce from Brit actress Jodie last month, but the pair are still locked in a bitter dispute over their daughter Juno, with Joshua recently filing an emergency custody order after his ex changed the five year old’s school. ‘Katie’s been very supportive towards Joshua during his divorce, offering parenting tips and a sympathetic ear whenever he wants to check in and chat. He appreciates that and is always there for her in return. When things went south with her marriage, he was supportive, too, and they’ve really cheered each other on in their careers. That’s why this reunion is going to be extra-special.’

Busy – who played Audrey Liddell on the hit show – recently gave an update on the potential reboot, saying, ‘It’s like playing chess trying to get everybody’s schedules to align. I’m very hopeful that, at some point, we will.’ The reunion would be in support of co-star James Van Der Beek – who announced he had been diagnosed with colorectal cancer last November, and is receiving treatment – and it’s hoped he’d be able to take part.
And our source believes it’s only a matter of time before Joshua and Katie’s relationship translates to off-screen romance once again. ‘It’s hard to imagine the sparks won’t fly when they do get together on set again,’ they say. ‘Since they’re both single at the same time, there’s every chance the old magic could come flooding back.’
