Ah, Below Deck; the hit Netflix show that kept us all gripped during 2020’s worldwide lockdown. It provided an escape into the world of luxury yachting with the show focusing on the lives of crew members and captains and how they deal with demanding guests and navigate life at sea.

We’ve since become utterly obsessed with the whole entire cast – fromchef Ben Robinson, first officer Eddie Lucas to deckhand Rhylee Gerber.

We’ve also got a huge soft spot for the OG cast member and Chief Steward who has provided endless entertainment from the very beginning.

Fan favourite Kate recently stepped back from yacht life so we though we’d bring you everything we know about her…

Kate is best known for being Chief Stew on Bravo’s Below Deck but recently stepped back from the sea to focus on her impressive career offshore. She began her yachting career in 2007 and started working as a third stewardess on her first yacht. Sheimmediately fell in love with the exotic and exciting industry and rose through the ranks to chief stewardess where she was solely in control of the interior of the ship and reported to the captain.

Alongside getting new members ship shape and arguing with the male members of the crew (LOL), Kate is also a celebrated author, philanthropist and radio host, and has her own podcast After Deck with Kate Chastain.

When did Kate Chastain leave Below Deck?

In 2020, she announced the departure from the series on her Instagram and explained the reasons she decided to leave. 😢

“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, I have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new land-based role.

“I intend to step back as a senior member of the Below Deck Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support His Majesty Andy Cohen.”

However, she's still part of the family as Kate's voice can still be heard on Below Deck: Mediterranean, the spin-off series of the long-running reality TV show.

How old is Kate Chastain?

She was born on the 2 January 1983, making her 38 years old.

Where is Kate Chastain from?

Kate was born in Melbourne Beach in Florida but has travelled all around the world in her career. She currently lives in New York.

Is Kate Chastain in a relationship?

She’s currently single.

Kate famously dated Below Deck chef Ben Robinson in the early seasons of the show but admitted in season four that she had fallen for a woman and dated Ro Hernandez before splitting in 2016.. Despite dating women, Kate doesn’t say she’s gay and instead likes to stay away from labels and is not interested in being called a lesbian.
