It was a tough, heated decision but Lauren Platt was voted off The X Factor from the judges votes tonight.

The sing-off between Lauren and Andrea Faustini was no doubt an emotional one and although both acts but all their efforts into their performances, it was Lauren who was asked to leave.

This means in the final of The X Factor 2014 next weekend will be Fleur East, Ben Haenow and Andrea, aka “I love pugs”.

Tonight’s results were all down to the ITV show’s four judges; Cheryl Fernandez-Versini voted to save Lauren, Mel B saved her act Andrea.

It was then over to Louis Walsh who chose to also save Andrea. Which meant Simon Cowell had the deciding vote.

On everyone’s mind was, ‘would he put it to deadlock?’ – which would have meant who left would have been determined by who received the lowest public vote.

However Simon chose to save Andrea which meant Cheryl’s act, Lauren, got the boot.

Before casting his vote, Simon said: “Andrea you were over-singing but your passion, you can’t argue with that.

“I’m going to go with the person who over the whole season I think has deserved it.”

Speaking to Dermot O’Leary, Lauren said: “Firstly, I want to say thank you to everyone who voted and helped me get this far.

“Secondly, I want to say thank you to the most incredible woman I’ve ever met in my life for giving me this opportunity,” gushed the 17-year-old about her X Factor mentor.

At the end of the show Fleur, Ben and Andrea were asked back on stage by Dermot.

Fleur spoke to Dermy about being in the final and said: “I just can’t believe this, this is a dream can’t true, thank you for voting for me.”
