When applying for Love Island, contestants are after one thing: LOVE.
Alright, alright. Two things: love and a big money clothing line deal.
Sometimes, though, things don’t work out quite as planned. While the likes of Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury found their soulmates in the villa, others weren’t quite so successful.
The course of true love famously never did run smooth, and some contestants are still out here doing it for the single folk as they prove self-love’s just as important as a steady relationship.
So, let’s look back at our favourite islanders owning the single life. Alexa, play Independent Women by Destiny’s Child 🔥.
Megan Barton-Hanson
After calling it quits with Wes Nelson as things ‘fizzled out’ back in 2019, Megan’s proved herself to be the absolute queen of self-care in more ways than one. Not only is she using her platform to break stigmas around sex work, but following her split from TOWIE’s Demi Sims she’s living it up unashamedly for all the single ladies out there.
Yewande Biala
We LIVED for Yewande’s, um, unique approach to dating after she coupled-up with Danny Williams in series five. Like, who could forget that iconic ‘I’m gonna go over there and be affectionate for three minutes…’ moment?
Yewande’s currently single but, do you know what? We don’t want her to ever change for anybody.
Greg O’Shea
He might’ve won the 2019 series with then-girlfriend Amber Gill, but Irish rugby pro Greg’s currently single. There was talk of him dating beauty and lifestyle blogger Kate Hutchins following a sneaky Dubai getaway last year, though the pair appear to have cooled things off.
We’re always around if you find yourself at a loose end, Greg.
Ovie Soko
How Ovie is still single, we’re not sure; but following his split from fellow islander India Reynolds the pro basketballer’s been keeping it pretty low key on the romance front. Not that it’s a problem, mind; the fella’s too chill for words.
Samira Mighty
Series four fave Samira decided to ‘take time out’ from then-boyfriend Frankie Foster back in 2018, leaving her to focus on her career. Samira’s since appeared on The X Factor: Celebrity as part of mixed group No Love Lost alongside co-stars Zara McDermott, Wes Nelson and Eyal Booker. Keep on doin’ you, queen.
