Love Island: why fiesty Faye Winter’s scared to be her real self

She blazed into the villa with bags of confidence, speaking her mind and telling viewers, “I’m looking for a guy to rip me a new arsehole.” She meant put her in her place, FYI. But over the past few weeks, we’ve come to see that Faye Winter is softer than she’s letting on. So, who is the girl behind the big boobs and bigger bravado?

According to her sister Jo, Faye, 26, is “sassy, strong and opinionated” – but when she really likes a guy, she lets down her guard.

“Once she finds the right person, she does fall deep,” says Jo. “You’ll see a completely different side to Faye when she does.”

As for her friends, Jo describes her sister as a “girls’ girl” – which explains why she’s forever the one passionately defending her villa mates against snakes and double-crossers. (Who can forget the moment she told Chloe, “Shut up and stop being nosey” while balking at her shady behaviour in the villa?)

According to Jo, “She’ll stand up for anyone when she doesn’t agree with something.”

Throughout the series, the lettings agent has consistently encouraged her partners to get to know the new girls and has done her best to insist she’s not fussed – leading to speculation that she’s just not that keen on finding love. But actually, it’s the opposite.

Before going into the villa, Faye told us her thoughts on the matter. “For me, if someone wants to come in and my man wants to be swayed, I’ll be there on the sidelines being like, ‘Byeee! See ya,’” she said.

“It means we weren’t meant to be. I’m a massive believer in that. I’m going in there purely for love.” In fact, heat would argue that all that “IDGAF” attitude is there for self-protection… seeing as nobody changes their mind faster than a Love Island fella.

As for confidence, Faye showed us just how fragile she was earlier in the series, after Hugo said he didn’t like “fake girls”. Taking it as a personal attack, Faye told him, “For me, the word fake, it doesn’t really brush well. My mum and dad didn’t watch me cry every single day from the age of 13 to 18 because I was underdeveloped… and then buy their daughter a boob job for her 18th birthday because I was so upset about it for such a long time.”

And judging by her intolerance for BS, we’d argue that Faye is anything but fake.
