Lucy Spraggan has spoken of her hell after X Factor and has warned singers thinking of taking part in the show.
The musician rose to fame on the talent contest in 2012 but dropped out due to illness during the live rounds or the series.
Tea and Toast warbler Lucy, who is releasing her third album We Are tomorrow, took medication to beat her demons after appearing on the programme but says she later spiralled out of control.
She told the Daily Star Sunday: “Some of the new album is quite dark because I lost it in 2013.
“I went travelling for three months, had a top 10 album and after that lost my identity.
“I was living off Prozac and Xanax at the time so I was super-mad.”
Lucy has now set up her own record company but has some words of warning for singers thinking of auditioning for X Factor this year.
She said: “Really prepare yourself mentally, because it is insane.
“You’re one of the most famous people in the country for a very short time and then you are abandoned.”
