Rumours have been rife for weeks as to who will replace Sandi Toksvig on Channel 4's The Great British Bake Off, after she decided to quit the show back in January, after three years.
Well, after the celebrity edition of the show kicked off for Stand Up To Cancer on Tuesday (10th March) night, bosses have now unveiled comedian and actor Matt Lucas as Sandi's replacement for the next series.
Sharing a hilarious 30-second video of Matt alongside current host Noel Fielding, bosses wrote, 'On your marks, get set… say hello to the newest member of the Bake Off team – @RealMattLucas! #GBBO'.
Speaking about joining the popular show, Matt said, “I’m chuffed to bits to be joining the most delicious show on television. I can’t wait to break bread with Noel, Prue and Paul and meet the brilliant bakers.
“And bearing in mind my love of cake, I’ve already ordered some much larger trousers in anticipation. See you in the tent!”
Noel then added, “I love Matt. I love his warmth and his comedy and his big joyful smile."

The news comes after 61-year-old Sandi decided to step down from the show earlier this year, admitting she's moving on to other things. A tweet read, '"All pud things come to an end" and the upcoming Great Stand Up To Cancer Bake Off will mark her last series on the programme. We would like to thank her for all the wonderful memories and wish her the very best for the future.'
