She finished in fourth place alongside Curtis Pritchard on Love Island 2019, but Irish beauty Maura Higgins was the real winner in our eyes. Her hilarious banter and witty personality (mixed in with her amazing accent) stole the hearts of many viewers, with many expressing they wanted her to win the show on her own.
However, although Love Island is now over and Maura has returned to the UK alongside Curtis, it certainly looks like this won't be the last we will be seeing of the 28-year-old.
Following her stint on the popular show, a fan of Maura with the Twitter name superTV247, sent a direct message to ITV on the social media platform, asking how many retweets would be needed for bosses to sign Maura up for I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
When ITV jokingly replied with '10,000', the fan account set up an 'official petition' asking fans to retweet the message. It read, 'this is an official petition for Maura Higgins of #LoveIsland to be cast in this years I'm A Celebrity please retweet'. [sic]
At the time of publication, the tweet has already surpassed the target of 10,000, with many fans of Maura expressing their excitement
One wrote, 'Yes!!! Maura is TV gold!! Get her in the jungle!!!', with another adding, 'I'm going to miss @MauraHiggins so much now.. She's an absolute legend. Please yes yes let's get her on I'm a Celeb. She would be TV Gold... The powers to be please 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏'. [sic]
A third then wrote, 'This must happen!'.
As well as this, Maura's sister Becki has also revealed she thinks her sister would be great on the show. She told Independent, “I can’t see her coming back here – I’d say it will be London or somewhere else in England.
“There is so much lined up for her but I would love to see her on I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, if I could pick for her. She would be terrified, but class on it – she’d be effing and blinding out of her."
Of course, ITV haven't actually confirmed anything about this year's I'm A Celebrity line-up, and the ITV account in the tweet does look a little suspicious, but we can't deny Maura would make a brilliant camp mate!
