She's certainly come a long way since she played the role of Tina McIntyre in Coronation Street, and it seems Michele Keegan's hard work is paying off, as she picked up a Best Actress award at last night's TV Choice Awards.

Michelle won the award for her incredible role in hit drama Our Girl, where she plays the role of Corporal Geordie Lane alongside the likes of Ben Aldrige, Luke Pasqualino and Shalom Brune-Franklin.

And after years of specific training for the role, Michelle got a little emotional during her acceptance speech. Admitting she didn't expect to win, the 31-year-old said, "This job for me was life changing, I got to travel the world, learn new skills, met extraordinary people and to come away with this award is just the cherry on the cake."

Michelle then went on to thank the service men and women from the British Army, adding, "Especially the female medics that I met along the way, I feel honoured and privileged to be telling your story on screen. I have so much respect for what you do."

Last night's ceremony was the 22nd TV Choice Awards, which was once again hosted by Pointless presenter Richard Osman at the fancy Dorchester Hotel on Park Lane in London. Michelle wasn't the only winner from the night, EastEnders actor Danny Dyer picked up the award for Best Actor, giving a hilarious speech in the process.

The other big winners were Peaky Blinders and Emmerdale, each taking home TWO awards! Peaky Blinders actor Cillian Murphy took home Best Actor, whilst the TV show took home the Best Drama Series award, meanwhile, Emmerdale actress Emma Atkins took home Best Soap Actress and Ned Porteous won Best Soap Newcomer.
