How did we not see this coming? Nick Grimshaw is the perfect candidate to sit on The X Factor’s judging panel, no? Imagine the lols.
And now it appears Simon Cowell may be interested in the BBC Radio 1 DJ with reports Grimmy will freshen up the ITV singing competition, if he’s appointed.
The plot thickens, and as Louis Walsh may be out, the show’s bosses have appaz been in cahoots and are close to signing Grimmy.
A BBC source said: “Grimmy is one of the most well connected men in showbiz and will make a brilliant judge. It’s clear Cowell’s hope is that he will attract new viewers and artists to the show.
“He feels fresher and more relevant than some of the previous judges.
“Louis has been a great servant to the show but he is out of touch now compared to up and coming stars like Grimmy. The hope is Grimmy can come in and Louis will leave.”
In our opinion Grimmy should get the job not only for his talents but also because he’s pals with Harry Styles and that wins everything. Well, that, and the fact the deal could mean Grimmy could land £1 million. That also wins a lot of things.
However there may be complications with ITV signing the BBC employee. The source added: “There are complications because Grimmy has a Radio 1 contract with the BBC and will be working for ITV too.
“But everyone seems confident something can be worked out.
"The BBC will have mixed emotions. On one hand, he will be on ITV, on the other, it will raise the profile even more of his breakfast show on Radio 1.”
In tomorrow's heat magazine, Grimmy told us he'd love to be a presenter on The X Factor.
Grimmy told heat: "I love The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent. You can't not like them.
"Everyone from my coolest friends to my dad watches them. It's common ground."
Simon is basically 100 per cent confirmed for to remain as job (it is his show after all) with further reports stating one of the show’s original judges Louis has already been told by Simon it is ‘95 per cent certain’ he will not return to the show this year. Ouch.
Although we agree, we’d rather see Grimmy on our screens. Wouldn’t you? We’re not even sorry, Louis.
