If there were to be an award to be given to the most awkward X Factor audition, then it would be handed out tonight.

Jon Goodey used to be in a band with X Factor host Olly Murs, called Small Town Blaggers, before the Wrapped Up hit maker made it big.

In tonight’s episode, not only does Jon, 27, have to cope with the pressure of singing live in front of the judges and the whole of Wembley Arena – he’s also got his old Essex friend Olly rooting for him from the side of the stage.

But is Jon just a step away from following in his friend’s footsteps, or will the pressure get too much?

Sadly, it was the latter. As Jon, who works for an IT company, launched into a rendition of Chasing Cars by One Republic, the judges were less than impressed.

Speaking at the official episode launch earlier this week, Olly said: “I was devastated. Jon is a really good friend of mine.

"I’ve known him years so it was horrible but the judges have got to do what the judges do and they’ve got to put my friendship aside of him and judge the audition. I think Jon knew when he walked off that he didn’t do the best audition.” Awks.

Lets hope the lads can stay best mates…
