When is Orange Is The New Black coming back?
Unless you've been living under a rock you'll know that OITNB is a Netflix phenomenon. Following a group of absolutely killer (literally) women locked up in Litchfield prison, the next instalment of the series will be back on our screens this summer.
So WHEN can we watch Orange Is The New Black season 5?
All 13 episodes of OITNB season five will be released on Netflix on Friday 13 June.
What happened at the end of Orange Is The New Black season 4? (spoilers)
The end of season four was an emo-tion-al rollercoaster. Aiyden, the hitman hired to kill Alex, was found dead and chopped up in the veg patch, Piper and Maria had major turf wars, Lolly was sent to psych and Sophia returned from the SHU a changed woman. The major heartbreak though came when series favourite Poussey was crushed to death by a prison officer during a prison riot :'(
So, like, what will Orange Is The Nes Black season 5 be about?
According to Danielle Brooks aka Taystee, the next instalment is going to be "very detailed and very intense".
Taking place over the course of three days it's speculated that the series will focus on the immediate aftermath of Possey's death. Make sure you have a box of tissues with you on the sofa as we are expecting the new eps to explore how the inmates cope, particularly her BFF Taystee and girlfriend Soso. SOB.
Kimoki Glenn (Soso) has said she “can’t imagine [Soso] is going to have an easy time dealing with it”, while Danielle has suggested that her character will be at war and now has “nothing to lose”.
Clips from the season five trailer also show Daya pointing a gun at Humphrey, picking up from season four's cliff-hanger when the POs lost control after Poussey's death.
Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Dascha Polanco who plays Daya has hinted: “I could see her pulling the trigger. Daya's definitely experiencing some postpartum depression.
“She might pull back and think about being a mother and not wanting to miss the opportunity of being with her child.
“But a woman going through postpartum — at that point, they’re very fragile and very sensitive”.
Will this be the last season of Orange Is The New Black?
Fans will be happy to hear Netflix have confirmed that there will not only be a sixth but also a seventh series. This, according to creator Jenji Kohan, means THREE MORE YEARS of the prison drama so "plenty of time to do some interesting things."
Who will be in season five of OITNB?
Cast members have been pretty tight lipped when it comes to who will be returning for season five, but it's thought that most of the main cast will return.
This includes Taylor Schilling (Piper), Kate Mulgrew (Red), Uzo Aduba (Crazy Eyes), Danielle Brooks (Taystee), Laverne Cox (Sophia) and Laura Prepon (Alex).
While Lori Petty's character Lolly was sent to psych at the end of last season, the actress is hoping she'll be back: “I can't say for sure, but I absolutely think we will [be back].
“They are just now filming episode one [of season five] and you know how we ended season four. They have a lot to deal with right now,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.
