Of all the many terrible things that have occurred this year, the demise of the Great British Bake Off is up there with the worst.
It was announced a few weeks ago that the show would be moving to Channel 4, and it followed Mel Giedroyc, Sue Perkins and Mary Berry wouldn't be coming with it.
:(
Paul 'Traitor' Hollywood is staying, though.
There have been loads of rumoured new hosts, ranging from David Cameron to Davina McCall.
We can't decide which of these would be worse.
But obviously David Cameron is busy with his brand new X Factor career right now, sooo…
The latest name to hit the rumour mill is Richard Ayoade, who we VERY MUCH APPROVE OF.
"Richard is a really popular choice at the minute, as many think he’s got a great character that would bring a great spark to the show.
"He’s got a wonderful off-beat sense of humour, which would really fit the change of channel – and would no doubt be a popular choice with viewers too," a source told The Sun.
"It’s still early days, but he is definitely up there and now the leading candidate."
It makes sense – Richard has long been a pal of Channel 4, having starred in the IT Crowd and numerous Big Fat Quizzes of the Year.
We looooove him.
As for Mary Berry's replacement (SOB), Delia Smith has been tipped as a potential.
A source recently told The Sun: "The bosses want a real baking legend to replace Mary and Delia is topping the list there, as her cookery books are an absolute kitchen staple.
"She would be a really credible choice. And Dawn and Jennifer would be a dynamite signing. Not only are they absolutely hilarious, but they have wonderful chemistry, which is what viewers really loved about Mel and Sue."
