Massive whoop for EastEnders fans – bald headed favourite Ross Kemp has dropped the biggest hint yet he’s set to reprise his role of Grant Mitchell on the BBC soap.
The actor, who played bad boy Grant many moons ago, recently excited fans on Twitter, saying he’d be up for appearing on the show again.
But he has now addressed speculation of a return personally and has even hinted he’s in talks with show bosses.
He told Mirror Online: “Everyone wants to know about EastEnders, and at the moment I don’t know, so I can’t really say anything. There has been rumours and I have never said that I wouldn’t go back.”
It is thought Grant will make his way back to Albert Square to help his alcoholic brother Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) after he falls off the wagon due to a conflict with gangster Gavin Sullivan (Paul Nicholas).
Executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins is also said to want Ross back as Grant so he can reunite four legendary characters – Grant, Phil, Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth).
An insider previously told the Daily Mirror: “Dominic has put out discreet feelers and has been quite encouraged by the response.
“Storylines don’t get much bigger than getting the Mitchell brothers back together.”
Producer Dominic said: “I think the fact that you’ve got Phil, Kathy, Sharon – there’s a person missing, isn’t there?
“To get all four on screen at the same time is a dream. As an EastEnders fan, you want to watch that.”
‘Enders lovers first got excited about the possibility of Ross returning to the show as Grant earlier this month when the actor shared a tweet to producer Dominic from a viewer.
The message read: “I really hope @dominictv convinces @RossKemp to return to @bbceastenders... I would love to see the Mitchell Brothers back together again.”
The actor replied: “Never say never.”
Exciting!
