What is The Royals?

Shameless meets The Queen? The Only Way Is Westminster? Game Of Thrones with less blood and more bonking? Well, sort of. Imagine everyone in the royal family was as much of a sordid party animal as Prince Harry - expect lots of sex, drugs and, erm, crowns in the barmy new drama from E!

Who's in it?

Well, Elizabeth Hurley as Queen Helena, Vincent Regan as the brilliantly named King Simon, along with Prince Liam (William Moseley), Princess Eleanor (Alexandra Park) and the non-blue blood Ophelia (Merritt Patterson).

What's it about?

Liz Hurley struggling with normal family issues - y'know, like getting naked and ending up on the front of the papers, sleeping with the bodyguards, all that standard stuff - while living in the public eye. It's already been renewed for a second series, and they haven't even shown the first one yet.

What should I expect?

SEX. DEATH. ELTON JOHN REFERENCES.

We have it on good authority that Prince Liam is "fit" and gets his kit off 3 minutes and 24 seconds into the first episode. So you can always just switch off after that? Elsewhere there's princesses making condom art, Liz Hurley stripping off to some tiny lingerie, and her character Queen Helena makes nods to her real life chum, Elton John. Also, Prince Robert's death is shrouded in mystery (no doubt drawing from Princess Diana) and some amazing quotes from the family's cousins, Penelope and Maribel, including the actual words "vaggy virgin". You have been warned.
