It’s no secret we at heat, much like basically the entire country, are pretty obsessed with Love Island.

But we have to admit it did set a pretty unrealistic body image standard, due to the fact many of the contestants had likely been preparing for a summer on telly in a bikini with daily gym sessions and gruelling diet plans.

This is something Caroline Flack recently discussed. After being asked by The Telegraph whether it portrays an “unrealistic body image”, Caroline replied: “I guess it is really isn’t it?”

She then added: "I have nothing to do with the casting, so I can’t say why they pick certain people, but the type of people who apply are already quite body-confident, I guess."

And this is something that X Factor Sam Bailey, who appeared on Lorraine earlier today, concurred with.

Speaking to host Christine Bleakley, she said: "It would be nice to see some more plumper ladies in things like that.

"Love Island is great - everyone in it is stunning and beautiful and thin - but the reason I'm starring in Fat Friends is to let everyone know it's OK to be the size that you are.

"It's OK to be real.

"But then Love Island - my daughter is like 'Oh I've got a bit of fat, I need to go on a diet.

"She's 12 and it really frustrates me."

Sam did add that her daughter had come to realise the difference between reality and TV body goals, saying: "But she gets it now. She knows she's still growing and is going to be beautiful when she's older regardless."
