Selasi Gbormittah’s Great British Bake Off final party was probably the best thing ever

Literally, EVER.

The time has finally come to say goodbye to the Bake Off as we know it.

We, like the rest of the country, were fighting back the tears during last night's final as the closing credits signalled the end of the good ol' days and marked the beginning of a new era of the Great British Bake Off on Channel 4. Or, as we like to call it, a travesty.

Then we remembered what our mothers told us when we got dumped by our boyfriends via text on our Nokia 3310s: "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened in the first place…."

SHUT UP MUM, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND.

But it did get us thinking about what a bloody brilliant series of the Bake Off this has been.

Not only were Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins on top innuendo form, it was also probably the rudest series to date. Who could forget Andrew Smyth's phallic caramel jousting poles?

But mainly we loved it because of Val Stones and Selasi Gbmorittah and their unlikely, but oh so beautiful, friendship.

Selasi recently rode all they way from London to Somerset on his motorbike, to spend the day with our favourite pensioner.

Then he won the internet (in our opinion) with this pic of him LITERALLY HOLDING VAL.

Selasi has also been filling our hearts' with joy over the last few weeks with his weekly Bake Off viewing parties. Seriously, why isn't he our boyfriend?

And now pics of his viewing party for the Bake Off final have emerged and we think our hearts might actually explode.

Val kicked things off with a VERY fetching selfie.

Work, those angles girl. Good choice with that blue sparkly jumper.

Then Selasi made us really hungry with his millions of pizza boxes prepped for the evening ahead.

Oh and the bottles of Champagne, of course

The party looked SO fun.

All the bakers were there, along with about 30 other guests (our invite must have got lost in the post or something) and many of them took to Twitter to congratulate Candice Brown on her win.

Tom Gilliford – of the very RUDE bread creations – wrote: "Massive congratulations to @CJ_Brownie - our amazing#GBBO champion."

Andrew had this to say: "What a fantastic winner, montage at the end had me in tears. Go Candice. Go bakers of 2016 #gbbo."

We couldn't agree more, Andrew.

So that's that, Bake Off is over.

:((((

But fear not, as we've got a feeling we're going to be seeing quite a bit more of some of our favourite bakers.

Fans are calling for Val's baking trip to Ayia Napa (classic, Val) to be turned into a spin-off show.

There's also a rumour going round that Ayia Napa might actually code for Val heading into the jungle for I'm A Celebrity.

Could we be seeing Val facing the bush tucker trials?
