Sharon Osbourne has spoken out about accusations from The X Factor viewers that she’s been drunk on the live shows, saying she finds them distressing.

The talent show judge has been the subject of speculation after she appeared to be in very good spirits on the programme and forgot the name of her own contestants when introducing them.

But she insists there is nothing wrong with her and is hurt she would be accused of such a thing given the addiction troubles her family has been through.

Speaking to Day & Night, she said: "I was quite hurt because my family has had so much to deal with.

"My husband Ozzy, obviously. My son, Jack, who has been clean and sober since he was 17, is 31 now. I don’t want him to think badly of me.

"It’s like, ‘Whoa!’ People say, ‘you must be drunk’ because I’m laughing and acting stupid and getting names wrong. But what’s wrong with being a bit of an airhead and having a laugh?

"I wouldn’t normally let people get on top of me like that but give me a break."

Meanwhile, Sharon is staying focussed on helping her act Saara Aalto who has made it to the final, but compared her to her former contestant from a previous series, Chico.

She said: "Saara is a serious artist. She is a brilliant singer and performer.

"Do you know what Chico is doing now? He’s the rear end of a horse in pants. Leave him be, it’s a job."
