The full length version has been causing a stir on Twitter all day, with some people claiming the video is WAY too sexualised for 12-year-old Maddy (star of Dance Moms).
The backlash even got so intense, Shia took to his Twitter to explain and apologise for the way some people were viewing it.
Earlier this month, Maddie gave an interview about working on the video with Shia and mentioned she felt a little intimidated by some of his actions.
“We had fun on set definitely, but when we got into it he got super serious,” Maddie told Cosmopolitan.
“He was running around, he was punching the cage, and screaming and doing a lot of push-ups. He just kept doing it and I was just standing there like, 'Uhh, does he always do this?'’ I don't usually just see people screaming and getting into character, I was a little intimidated but I understood.”
The video has clocked up an amazing 4,260,391 hits since yesterday and despite some people taking issue with it, others have LOVED it.
“I don't care what people say. I love @Sia music video for Elastic Heart! It's different in a good way and I see what she's portraying in it,” wrote one Twitter user. While Professor Green gave his expert opinion, writing:
“Just watched Sia’s Elastic Heart video. The problem is with people who see it as sexual, not the video; the video and song are wicked.”
