Aw, everyone spare a thought for Jake Quickenden – he was kicked out of the X Factor in week three of the live shows and then he went into the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! jungle to be met by cougar Edwina Currie.
Fine, he came second in the realty show in Australia but he’s hardly been back in the UK for any length of time and Simon Cowell is already slamming him for selling out.
It seems the music mogul thinks all acts in the competition would do best to hold out for a record deal after getting the boot.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s final, he told heatworld: “In any competition, if you don’t want to win, that tells me you don’t have the killer instinct for the real world.
“You come tenth and then you end up in the jungle – we want people on the show to become recording artists. It’s true, he could have done the jungle first and then come on the show.”
The record company boss compared Jake to One Direction, saying they had the hunger to succeed and he’s still gutted they didn’t win.
He said: “I still can’t watch the moment 1D came third. I was so arrogant we would win. I still look back and want them to be announced as the winners.”
