To show just how much we miss and still think about the cast who made our early teen years a little bit better, we decided to do some stalking and see where the stars of the Skins second generation are now (because everyone always focuses on the first generation and even though they were fab, we wanna show the second lot a little bit of love too).
Kayda Scodelario (Effy)
Scodelario was the only character to survive two generations of the show, but she eventually departed in 2010 after four series’ to make way for the third generation. Since then she has been busy rubbing shoulders with Hollywood A-listers after her recurring role in the movie blockbuster The Maze Runner. She has also announced she’ll be making an appearance in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and The Kings Daughter, both due for release this year. We can hardly believe that our beloved little Effy will now be gracing our screens alongside movie royalty Johnny Depp, especially since prior to Skins she had no acting experience whatsoever. Oh, she’s also had time to get married and have a baby too. Not bad! G’warn girl!
Jack O’Connell (James / Cook)
Effy isn’t the only one who’s been busy on the big screen. Jack O’Connell has made several appearances in cinemas, most notably being cast in Angelina Jolie’s 2014 film Unbroken and also by appearing in the hunk-fest film that is 300: Rise of an Empire. He’ll return to our screens later this year in Tulip Fever alongside everyone’s fave woman crush, Cara Delevigne and we absolutely cannot wait.
Luke Pasqualino (Freddie)
Our favourite Italian stallion has been busy on both the big and little screens since departing from Skins back in 2010. After starring in Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome and a short stint in the ultimate laugh-out-loud comedy series Miranda, it’s safe to say he hasn’t been picky with his roles. He even starred in the BBC’s major hit series Our Girl, but this year you can look forward to seeing him in Smartass and Solar Eclipse: Depth of Darkness. Totally random roles but we’re excited nonetheless.
Ollie Barbieri (JJ)
Ollie hasn’t been up to much since leaving Skins in 2010. His most recognisable role since Skins was actually in Anuvahood (which we’re not complaining about because that film is funny af). After a short four year break starting in 2013, Ollie is back this year in horror film Blood Money.
Kathryn Prescott ( Emily)
One half of our fave set of twins, Kathryn has been a busy bee since ending her stint on Skins in 2013, with roles in Being Human, Finding Carter and 24: Legacy. Unfortunately, she won’t be starring with her other half, Megan, anytime soon. Kathryn has been working in America working on two films due for release this year: To the Bone and Fun Mom Dinner, but the pair were always open about not being close twins anyway. Oh well, we can still hope, right?
Megan Prescott (Katie)
The other half of the Fitch twins has also been busy on-screen, with roles in Silent Witness, Holby City and an upcoming role in 2017 short film The Verge. It doesn’t seem like a lot, but Megan has been busy transforming into the female Hulk as well. She’s been on an Instagram journey transforming into a body-builder. We didn’t see that one coming and kinda wish we had the motivation to get in shape too. Instead we’ll just sit here drooling over her pics and awaiting her new short film whilst scoffing chocolate (SOMEONE has to be lazy, we can’t all be fit).
Lily Loveless (Naomi)
Lily left Skins in 2013 and hasn’t had a minute off since. She went on to star in DCI Banks, Fear of Water and Set the Thames on Fire. She also starred alongside her fellow Skins second-generation co-star Luke Pasqualino in The Musketeers. She doesn’t have anything due to released this year (probs taking a well deserved break) but we don’t blame her. We got a whole lotta love for Miss Loveless.
Lisa Backwell (Pandora)
Lisa played the naïve young teen, Pandora, on Skins from 2008-2010 and, alongside Kayda (Effy), was one of the only characters from the second generation to reappear in the third generation. Sadly, unlike Kayda, Lisa hasn’t had much luck landing roles since. She starred in Ella in 2011 and Endeavour and Too Good of a Samaritan in 2012. Five years on, she has no acting credits to add to her portfolio. She is apparently pursuing a career in finance. RANDOM. We’re still hoping she lands an acting role soon though. We miss her cute lil' face.
Merveille Lukeba (Thomas)
Seven years since leaving Skins, Merveille has graced our screens in major TV series Lewis, as well as in Bloody Foreigners and in one of the biggest inspo films of 2016, A United Kingdom (which also stars Rosamund Pike and Tom Felton so we’re majorly jealous). He looks so grown up now which makes us a little bit sad, but not too sad because he’s a serious contender for Man Crush Monday.
Klariza Clayton (Karen)
Klariza and Ollie (JJ) are to be reunited later this year in Blood Money and, if their performances in Skins are anything to go by, it’ll be totally awesome. Klariza has another film coming out this year too. Fox Trap is a freaky horror film that is just a little bit different to her pervious roles in children’s TV shows House of Anubis and Dani’s House. We’re glad to see her still landing roles because we’re not quite ready to say goodbye to her just yet.
