Could Steps be about to launch their own reality TV contest?

Who knows what the future will hold...

Steps

It only seems like yesterday when we used to throw on a pair of boots and an old cowboy hat to dance round our bedrooms to Steps song 5,6,7,8 on a lonely *COUGH^ banging Friday night.

So we’re all over the current Steps 20th anniversary comeback as they repeatedly pop up on our television screens to promote their new single Story Of A Heart.

And it seems even better things could be to come as the dancetastic quintet would like to launch a search for the stars of a stage show based on their story as a band.

Lisa Scott Lee told BANG Showbiz: “Would we create another Steps? Yeah, why not! For us, at the moment, it’s really exciting to create new music so that’s what we’re focusing on now but you never know what will happen.”

If the group did front a televised search for the cast of a musical based on the band, it would be similar to Let It Shine, Gary Barlow’s show which covered the search for a new boyband called Five to Five to tell the story of his band Take That.

The series started off a success with 6.8million tuning in for the launch but numbers dropped and former Take That member Robbie Williams even turned down the opportunity to appear as a guest judge in the end.

A source recently said of the BBC programme: “The show was a huge success in many ways but the concept for a second series just wasn’t quite there yet.

“The first series was a project that had been worked on for years before coming to fruition.”

Maybe Steps to could do a better job?
