Yesterday's news saw how Cheryl had become hotly tipped to take part in the show, as did Olympic diver Tom Daley, presenter Scarlett Moffatt and Steps singer Faye Tozer.

But today, a TV insider has revealed that former The Pussycat Dolls singer Ashley Roberts could be heading to the studios.

A source told the Mirror, "Ashley is already a hot favourite because of her dance experience with the Dolls as well as having trained as a dancer.

"Although she might not have done much ballroom or Latin, being able to pick up choreography quickly as well as her rhythm is sure to give her an edge."

But Ashley has much more than her dancing experience as an edge over other contestants, having been a judge on Dancing On Ice for two years.

The publication also reports that TV doctor Dr Ranj Singh, who hosts a segment on This Morning, could be on the line-up too, with an insider telling the Mirror that Dr Ranj is a "housewives’ favourite on ITV daytime" and that he’s "sure to have big support when he takes to the dancefloor."

It's no surprise that the BBC refused to comment on the speculation, but they did say that the cast list for this year would be confirmed "soon."
