This week announcements for the line-up of the new Strictly Come Dancing series have been coming in thick and fast, and the latest big name to be confirmed is a singer who also has A LOT of dancing experience. Former Pussycat Dolls member Ashley Roberts was confirmed as the latest celebrity to join this year's Strictly earlier today (17th August) in a tweet from the BBC, which was promptly retweeted by the 'Don't Cha' singer.

The BBC's caption cleverly quoted some lyrics from the Pussycat Dolls's Number 3 single from 2008, 'When I Grow Up', saying, 'When I grow up I wanna be famous, I wanna be a star, I wanna be on...'

Ashley was first rumoured to be in the line-up last week when a source told the Mirror, "Ashley is already a hot favourite because of her dance experience with the Dolls as well as having trained as a dancer.

"Although she might not have done much ballroom or Latin, being able to pick up choreography quickly as well as her rhythm is sure to give her an edge."

However, Ashley has much more than her dancing experience as an edge over other contestants as she has also been a judge on Dancing On Ice for two years.

Katie Piper

Katie Piper has been the first confirmed celebrity for Strictly Come Dancing 2018! Speaking in an interview with the BBC, the TV presenter and model said, "Thank you so much, it's been so hard to keep it secret!" before adding that she's struggled not to tell her friends who have invited her to events later in the year. The only person I told is my husband through text message and he thought I was joking!" she laughed, adding, "I don't have that natural rhythm but I like the fact there's a challenge."

The announcement of Ashley Roberts follows yesterday's confirmation that This Morning presenter Dr Ranj Singh will appear on the show. The addition of Dr Ranj to the line-up was announced on This Morning by presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford. Speaking about his involvement Dr Ranj said, “I definitely enjoy a good boogie when I’m out, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to pick up the moves! I’m really keen to get stuck in and start rehearsing.”

Other celebrities to have been confirmed already include TV personality Katie Piper, Steps singer Faye Tozer, Red Dwarf star Danny John-Jules, YouTuber Joe Sugg, Radio DJ Vick Hope, former England cricketer Graeme Swann and investigative journalist Stacey Dooley, however many fans of the show have expressed some disappointment with the line-up saying they were 'unimpressed' with one viewer even saying, 'Now announce the real line up, please.

According to reports, filming for the official launch show is scheduled for Friday 31st August, where all of this year's cast will meet their celebrity partners. However, this show will not be shown live and will air at a later date.
