Strictly Come Dancing bosses have confirmed Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins has been lined-up for the upcoming series of the popular dancing show.

Charlotte, who wakes up the nation with news headlines on Good Morning Britain every morning, was confirmed as the 11th contestant on the show this morning.

A tweet from the official Strictly Come Dancing account read, 'Good morning Britain. Have you heard the news? @CharlotteHawkns is joining #Strictly 2017!'

Speaking about appearing on the show, Charlotte said, "I am so thrilled to be one of the contestants on Strictly this year! I've always been a big fan of the show. It is a dream come true to be taking part and I'll be following in the footsteps of my Good Morning Britain colleagues. I'm looking forward to stepping out from behind the news desk to cha-cha-cha my way across the dancefloor!"

Charlotte isn't the first member of the Good Morning Britain team to appear on the dancing show. The likes of Susanna Reid, Kate Garraway and former star Fiona Phillips have all appeared on Strictly in previous years.

As well as Good Morning Britain, Charlotte previously worked at Sky News on their breakfast show Sunrise for seven years and presented a number of live news events including the Olympics, the Royal Wedding and the Oscars red carpet.

Charlotte joins the already star-studded line-up of Gemma Atkinson, Ruth Langsford, former The Saturdays singer Mollie King and more.
