Yesterday we heard the news that Strictly star Gorka Marquez was attacked just hours after filming the live show in Blackpool, and now the dancer has taken to Twitter to give his statement on the drama.

"Thanks for all your kind messages and support about Blackpool," Gorka told his 15.7k Twitter followers, describing the incident as a "bad experience".

Not letting the drama get him down, Gorka told fans: "I’m feeling better and just want to look forward to the show on Saturday". That’s impressive recovery time for someone who lost two teeth in the brutal attack.

The 26-year-old He posted the same message on Instagram, with fans commenting their well wishes for the Spanish dancer.

"So sorry to hear what happened over the weekend, just awful. Hope you are OK and feel better soon," said jomanjimac, with haltonchloe commenting: "Glad your okay! Your a great dancer don't let any one get you down! Love you! Keep dancing! (sic)."

As we heard yesterday, Gorka is said to be heading in for dental surgery to fix his injuries, and should be back on form this weekend. No pressure, dentist…

While he’s not actually in with a chance of winning this year’s Glitterball trophy after being eliminated with his partner Tameka Empson in week three, Gorka is still swinging his way round the dancefloor in the group dances.

He also danced with Anastacia when her partner Brendan Cole was sick earlier in the series, before she was eliminated in week 6.

This is Gorka Marquez’s first series of Strictly Come Dancing, but we hope the attack doesn’t have him heading home. Gorka for Strictly champion 2017?!
