If you were thinking *TOWIE’*s Ricky Rayment’s cheating allegations with Lydia Lucy came out of the blue, then you’re not the only one.
And no matter whether you’re Team Ricky, Team Jess or even Team Lydia, there was no denying it was a dramatic confrontation between Ricky and Jess on last week’s ITVbe reality show.
Anyone who has ever watched TOWIE will know that at the start of every show, narrator, Denise Van Outen says: ‘The people are real, although some of what they do has been set up purely for your entertainment’ …so is the Jess and Ricky cheating all part of a bigger story?
We caught up with both Ricky and Lydia Lucy’s mate and former X Factor contestant Charlie Brown at the My Face My Body Awards at the Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington.
He tells us: “I’ve heard Jess has been offered to go in the jungle, that’s why she’s just split with Ricky. “It needs something going on to make her go over there.”
Surely not? Well her brother Mark Wright has already been there and done that so his jungle experience might have rubbed off on Jess…
We asked Charlie to tell us what he knows about Ricky messaging Lydia, he says: “I know Lydia really well and I know Ricky really well and, basically, they met at a gig. It was one of Ricky’s friend’s wedding and Lydia was playing and they got a picture together. Jess took the picture of them two.
“Yeah they were messaging on Twitter but it wasn’t anything sexual or anything like that, it was ‘Great to see ya, really nice to meet you, hope you do well’, just a really bland conversation. Lydia’s been in a relationship for a few years and Ricky was with Jess. I think it’s a lot to do with airtime and leading up to Jess going into the jungle.”
It’s not yet known whether Jess really is jetting off to Australia to join Ant and Dec in the jungle as the official I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! line-up is still being kept under wraps. But Charlie says the whole thing has left Lydia upset.
He adds: “I was at a gig with Lydia on Wednesday when the show aired and she was really upset with what was going on and what was being said about her, because they’re saying things that ain’t true about her. Her and Ricky ain’t got anything going on at all, they had a picture together, which Jess took and it’s all for screening. Lydia’s had so much stick, she’s been called left right and centre and it’s not very fair for her because she’s only little and she’s so sweet. It’s sad though because it’s really brought her down.”
It’s not unusual for the TOWIE couple to be on and off more times than a pair of hair straighteners, so we asked Charlie if he thinks Jess and Ricky will get back together. “I don’t know, you can never tell with these things, can you?”
Hmm, we’ll just have to watch this space…
