The Only Way Is Essex is known for being jam-packed with dramz, brimming with agg and bursting with awkward tension. Rarely an episode goes by without some form of confrontation between former friends, exes or love rivals and there’s often a hearty side helping of shade.
But, apparently, this just isn’t enough for show bosses, who fear certain cast members aren’t pulling their weight in the agg stakes.
Producers are reportedly planning a big shake-up and want to axe several of the stars whose storylines aren’t brining enough emotional drama to the show.
"The cast of the show is huge, and bosses are thinking they’ve got some people adding nothing to the show, while the rest of the cast bring huge storylines and loads of emotional, drama-packed scenes,” a source told The Sun.
It’s also been claimed certain cast members have been focusing too much on their own lucrative endorsements, rather than the show. Apparently, some are withholding certain aspects of their lives from playing out on screen.
“Towie reflects the drama of the cast’s lives, and some of them are living one life off-screen, and another life on-screen,” the source continued.
“It’s like they’ve forgotten what Towie is about – they just want to appear on the show and then use that to make a fortune off-screen through other ways.”
Bosses reportedly ant to take the show back to its roots – but if the cast aren’t keen on sharing all aspects of their lives, they risk having their scenes cut.
According to The Sun, cast members potentially at risk of being axed include Jon Clark (following his split from Lauren Pope), Amber Dowding – and also her boyfriend Chris Clark – and Chloe Lewis, who’s rarely involved in any major storylines anymore.
Don’t worry, though, it’s thought show faves such as James Locke, Chloe Sims and Gemma Collins are all safe. PHEW.
