Traitors legend Diane Carson reveals why the Celebrity Traitors cast is at a ‘disadvantage’

Let's be honest, we ALL knew which celebs had signed up to Celebrity Traitors LONG before the BBC and Studio Lambert opened their mouths and made their official announcement last week, and yet, we were still salivating at the mouth (it was breakfast time, tbf) at the sight of those celeb portraits in that official teaser trailer.

No Courtney Cox, though. Boo.

Anyway, now it's all official official, more and more Traitors stars are starting to comment on the line-up – which includes Stephen Fry, Alan Car, Tom Daley, Nick Mohammed, Cat Burns and Paloma Faith – including Traitors series two legend Diane Carson who had plenty of thoughts to share on her podcast, Spill the Fizz, which she co-hosts with London drag queen, Beary Poppins, including why she thinks the celebs are at a major 'disadvantage' to the usual cohort of civilian Traitors and Faithfuls entering the castle year after year.

Diane revealed how she believes the celebs will struggle because they all already know each other (or of each other, at least), whereas, of course, the majority of civilian players are complete strangers to one another.

She said, 'They are all at a disadvantage. They could all know each other and therefore that makes the game more personal, sadly, because we're all human beings and we do take things personally. I know we shouldn't, but we do. I think they are starting at a higher bench mark than we were because we knew nobody and therefore what anybody did to us actually shouldn't have made any difference.'

The Traitors legend added that the same issue will arise if the BBC ever decided to green-light an All Stars version of the show (PLEASE)...

Diane continued, 'When they talk about All Stars, if we went back in, we have got friendships now from each series; if you're friend killed you, I could see that being an issue. So you've got that to contend with; they may be really good friends or know about the public persona that these people have.

'And honestly, it's stressful enough at the Round Table without that.'

The notorious Faithful - who became a fan favourite for her love of fizzy rosé, her camp AF on-screen funeral on the show, oh, and having her actual SON on the show with her and keeping it a secret - added that she also fears the celebs might be too focused on their career to get stuck into the game fully...

She said, 'And then, of course, I suppose [the celebrities] have to consider their career at every stage now. I personally think that you get so involved in hunting down Traitors or the the Traitors are so involved in trying to look like Faithfuls that they hopefully will forget about their careers. That's what I'm hoping will happen. They've got those things to contend with that the cast of series one, two and three did not have to contend with. That's harder for them.'

Sadly, Diane's advice (and let's be honest MOTHER KNOWS BEST) is going to fall on deaf ears and the 19 celebs have already wrapped filming in the Scottish Highlands and footage is being edited together as we type by LITERALLY the luckiest editors in the world.

To be a fly on the wall in Studio Lambert HQ right now...
