Joe and Jake, former contestants on The Voice, have been chosen to represent us at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with You're Not Alone.
Which is jolly exciting! And surely the Great British public can’t pick a worse STINKER than Still In Love With Youby Electro Velvet that we were high-handedly presented with last year.
Although, in fairness to Electro Velvet – and we’re trying very hard to be fair – they do follow in a long line of terrible entries for Great Britain.
It’s almost like we don’t want to win or something.
Here are the worst acts that we’ve actually put on a worldwide stage as representatives of Team GB.
Samantha Janus: A Message To Your Heart (1991)
Yes, that’s Ronnie Mitchell. Sadly, it’s no Anyone Can Fall In Love.
Jemini: Cry Baby (2003)
So far, the only song by Great Britain, and the only English language song, to ever receive nul points. Ouch.
Daz Simpson: Teenage Life (2006)
In what world did we think that a 36-year-old man singing about school days with a backing group of sexy schoolgirls (bleurgh) was a good idea?
GB – we should be ashamed of ourselves.
Scooch: Flying The Flag For You (2007)
Presumably, this entry was meant to be funny. But the rest of Europe failed to see the joke and Scooch came a miserable joint 22nd out of 24 entries.
And special mention goes to…
Katie Price: Not Just Anybody (2005)
Katie wasn’t chosen as the representative of GB that year (that honour went to Javine) but could this song have won?
Probably not. If we can’t win with THE REAL BLUE or BONNIE ACTUAL TYLER or, err, Andy Abrahams, then what hope is there for us?
