Overload said they’d NEVER go on the X Factor because they wanted to be ‘organic’. Awkward.

Despite proving popular at their X Factor audition, the lads previously said they would never audition for the show

When Overload walked onto the X Factor stage this weekend, you could see Simon Cowell’s eyes light up. And so did ours, we loved the cheeky band – made up of Ollie, Andy, Joey, Jordi and RyRy – and their quirky little moves.

But it seems there is a slightly awkward cloud sitting over the band, as an interview they gave last year made it pretty clear they would NEVER go on the reality show because they were determined to go it alone.

Determination fail.

“No we wouldn't [go on the X Factor] to be honest,” Joey said.

“We want to try and make it on our own the old school way. We just want to show people that you can do it on your own and you can do it organically. If you put the time in and interact with your fans, you can build up that fan base without the big backing of a show like that and I think it's been going well for us so far.”

RyRy added: “Don't get me wrong, it's an entertaining show. I don't dislike it, it's fun to watch. But personally, I think we'd like to go down the old school route.”

But on Saturday’s show, Joey had to address the issue and admitted: “I was younger when I said that and new to the industry. The X Factor will give us a great platform to showcase ourselves.”

Yes it will, lads. We’ll be cheering you on if you get through...
