Che Chesterman was given the boot during The X Factor live semi-final last night, meaning Louisa Johnson and Reggie ‘N’ Bollie are left to fight it out in the last episode of the show tonight.
But, after Simon Cowell described Louisa as an “angel” following one of her performances yesterday evening, could he be in for an unhappy Christmas if Reggie ‘N’ Bollie take the crown?
Some certainly think so – bookies reckon Louisa is still favourite to win with odds of 1/7 but Reggie ‘N’ Bollie still can’t be ruled out with odds of 9/2, so Simon might not get what he hopes for.
A spokesman for William Hill said: “Reggie ‘N’ Bollie are more karaoke than Christmas kings and Cowell will be desperate to see Louisa win.”
This year’s X Factor winner is expected to score the Christmas number one with odds of 4/6 but they face competition from the NHS Choir, who have odds of 5/1, and this year’s anti-X Factor campaign, the Star Wars theme tune, which has odds of 7/1.
And let’s not forget when former winner Joe McElderry failed to reach the top spot with his first single thanks to Rage Against the Machine.
Last night saw some brilliant performances from the three remaining finalists Louisa Johnson, Reggie ‘N’ Bollie and Che Chesterman.
They each gave two performances and, for one, Louisa teamed up with her mentor Rita Ora, Reggie ‘N’ Bollie were joined on-stage by Craig David and Fuse ODG, and Che Chesterman sang with Rod Stewart.
Despite getting the axe, Che looked delighted to have performed at London’s Wembley Arena and said working with Nick Grimshaw as his mentor was one of the highlights of his television experience.
Nick added: “He has one of my favourite voices in the world, let alone the competition.
“He’s come such a long way, I’ve been so blessed on my first year that I’ve got to meet someone like Che and I think he’s going to go on to great things.”
