On Sunday night’s episode of The X Factor, viewers were treated to an adorable, and seemingly off the cuff, proposal when contestant Sam Black popped the question on stage at Wembley Arena.
But eagle-eyed viewers have pointed out that it may not have been as spur of the moment as meets the eye – because his girlfriend Emma was wearing a mic pack.
Awks.
One viewer tweeted: “I love a fake proposal on the X Factor.”
Another added: “That proposal on X factor was cute and everything but did I spot a microphone pack already on her....?”
A fourth tweeted: “A marriage proposal on the X Factor?! That is so sleazy and fake… ”.
However, an X Factor boss denied any wrongdoing, explaining to The Sun Online: "All friends and family that are sat in the audience are mic'd up as a matter of course, so audiences at home can enjoy their reactions to the auditions.
"Sam Black's fiancé Emma Smith was completely unaware that he was planning to propose at Bootcamp."
Which actually sounds like a legit explanation, tbh.

Sam unfortunately didn’t make it through to Judges Houses, but after Simon told him he hadn’t made it to the next round, he said: “Can I do something before I go? Because I’m never gonna get this chance…”.
Simon then said: “You can do whatever you want…”
Sam then motioned to his girlfriend, and said: “Hey babe, come here”, at which point he got the ring out and said “Do I get a yes from you?”
(She did say yes, btw)
