Are X Factor judges Simon Cowell and Nick Grimshaw at war?

It sounds as if things are getting a little frosty between Simon Cowell and new X Factor judge Nick Grimshaw – the music boss was apparently infuriated with the radio DJ’s indecisiveness during the six-chair challenge section of the competition.

According to The Sun on Sunday, Simon grew increasingly irritated with Nick when he could not quickly pick contestants to take through to the next round of the show, snapping: “Just sit someone down.”

During tonight’s episode, Nick will be absent for part of the show, during which Simon says: “This feels better, doesn’t it?” before chirping: “Kidding.”

Judges Simon, Rita Ora and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini spoke to Nick while he was away via Skype as they decided who to take to the judges’ houses round but Simon lost his temper, shouting: “I’ve had enough,” before slamming the laptop shut.

BBC Radio 1 DJ Nick joined the X Factor judging panel this year when Louis Walsh was given the boot after 11 series on the show.

Last week it was revealed the Irishman is set to return as a “neutral fifth judge” in a bid to boost ratings.

Meanwhile, it seems Si and Mr Grimshaw have made up. An X Factor spokesperson told The Sun: “There’s no issue between Simon and Nick. Simon’s actions were in jest and he has recently recorded something for Nick’s radio show.”
