The Artists Formerly Known As Blonde Electric — a doomed-to-exit-at-the-Week-7-mark group set to make The X Factor live finals just too quirky for words — have changed their name to Blonde Electra, for reasons undisclosed. Hey, why aren’t you disclosing your reasons, girls? What are you trying to hide? Do you realise that neither one of you are called ‘Electra’?
Fans first realised Lady Jedward had done a name change during last night’s show, when it was announced the pair — sisters Jazzy, 24, and Ruby, 22 — would be making an appearance during next week’s show. The pair have also changed their Twitter handle, but not explained why.
Here are three possible reasons why have come up with:
i. Louis Walsh was tasked with filling in their official girlband application form and got the name wrong, like a forgetful dad registering his baby’s birth after a couple of pints down the local;
ii. Ruby and Jazzy realised that, with all the bedazzling of their band name into various awful stage outfits, headbands and MC Hammer pants they would have to do, it’s just going to save a whole heap of time to make their band name exactly one character shorter;
iii. Oh probably some other band exists called Blonde Electric and they decided to sue them as happens every single year (see Little Mix, Kingsland Road, Whatever New Boy Band Try And Call Themselves).
Anyway, we’re penciling Simon in to say, “You know, you girls are awful” at about the Week 2 mark and then say, “Actually, you know what: I was wrong about you” at about Week 6. Turn on the Christmas lights at a WH Smith in Accrington. Slow descent into obscurity from there.
