Fleur East has been one of the most consistently fascinating acts to watch in this year’s X Factor – and not just because we’ve got a fiver on her to win in the heat office sweepstake.
The 27-year-old opened up to heat to tell us all about how she’s getting on in the competition, and ended up spilling loads more about THAT Cheryl Fernandez-Versini Halloween performance, when the I Don’t Care singer was accused of miming.
“I have so much respect for her because I think she’s the only UK female artist who sings and dances and entertains and performs,” said Fleur of the X Factor judge. “It’s fair she mimed.”
She also talked about Mel B’s criticism, saying although Scary Spice can be, well, scary, she also knows what she’s talking about.
“I wouldn’t say I’m scared of Mel, but I’m just anticipating some form of a negative comment because it has always come from her,” she continued.
“Mel is harsh but her criticism is fair. I’m not Beyonce, I’m still working my way up, so when Mel says things like, ‘Your vocals were compromised’, I’m like, ‘I was moving around – of course they’re going to be compromised’, but it will come with years from experience. I don’t let it bother me.”
Find out what Fleur thinks of her mentor Simon Cowell – and his babymama Lauren Silverman – in this week’s heat mag, out today.
