X Factor’s Lauren Platt may miss Saturday’s live show after contracting nasty bout of flu

The X Factor lot just can’t seem to catch a break – last week Cheryl Fernandez-Versini almost missed Saturday’s live show after she was struck down by a nasty bug and now her contestant Lauren Platt is suffering with the same illness.

The aspiring popstar may be forced to pull out of tomorrow’s episode after contracting a horrible bout of flu.

Lauren was sent home to rest earlier this week and, despite battling through rehearsals yesterday, it’s thought she might still be too sick to perform.

A source told The Sun: “Lauren has been really ill. Earlier in the week we had to cancel an entire day of filming so she could go to bed.

“She was determined to come back the following day and rehearse but she is now both behind in practice, and under the weather.

“It has been very stressful for her, and we are all conscious of that.

“At the moment she is determined to sing tomorrow regardless and no one wants to tell her otherwise.

“But the truth is that it is very much up in the air. If she isn’t well, she won’t be on that stage.”

Lauren is Cheryl’s final contender in the show and the series is reaching a critical stage with just five acts remaining.

The insider added: “For Lauren to not be able to perform would be devastating – it is the last thing that anyone wants.

“But she is also worried being ill will affect her performance if she goes on. The odds are really against her this week.”
