In a cruel twist, this weekend’s The X Factor sees Simon Cowell and his fellow judges split up singing duo ITG at bootcamp.

To make matters worse, the boys – Leon, aged 22, and 18-year-old Alex – are brothers hailing from a family of singers.

Last weekend the boys won over the judges with their rendition of Don’t by Ed Sheeran, but received some constructive criticism from the Big Boss.

“Obviously you’re brothers and there’s that connection, I just don’t think you know where you should be going,” Simon explained.

“I didn’t really love the song, it didn’t really show off your voices and I think singing in the hotel you’ve fallen into bad habits,” added Louis Walsh.

Prior to their X Factor audition, the boys have been singing on stage at a local hotel in Norwich alongside their mum and grandma.

And in Saturday night’s episode, the whole family get caught up in the drama.

“Simon and the judges put the lads in a really tough position and there’s high drama,” a source told The Sun.

“It’s an agonising decision for the whole family and there are a few tears.”

The decision sees Leon continue onto to Judges’ Houses, while younger brother Alex is sent home.

The source added: “But, ultimately, they wanted Leon to have the chance of success, even if it meant trying to do it alone.”
