X Factor’s Joe Waller tells heat about QUITTING the show: “Cover songs are not my strong point”

On Saturday night’s X Factor, Joe Waller got four yeses from the judges after a stonking performance of his own song, Stay.

But yesterday we revealed how Joe has QUIT the show in order to focus on his own music – and loads of you were really shocked that he wasn’t even going to give it a chance.

We spoke to Joe after his bombshell announcement and asked him exactly why he was giving up his spot on The X Factor after such a positive reaction from the judges AND the public.

Hey Joe – what prompted you to leave after such a successful audition?

“I entered the show with no expectations, I didn't think I would even get to play on the stage let alone get aired on national television after requesting I play my own material. The opportunity that X Factor has given me is amazing and, in some sense, career-changing, but I love writing my own music, singing my own music and recording my own music.

“This is very difficult to do on a show that requires the artist to sing covers every week. And yes, although the exposure is amazing, I felt it was best to leave the competition and work towards pushing my own material. Cover songs are not my strong point, but I believe in my own material and hope that in time, other people do too.”

Have you heard from any of the judges since leaving the competition?

“I haven't had the opportunity to talk to any of the judges but know that they will be pleased with the incredible talent in each category this year regardless.”
