Zayn Malik’s X Factor audition – he’s changed SO much!

Yesterday, it was announced Zayn had quit One Direction’s On The Road Again Tour due to stress. The band’s spokesperson said: “Zayn has been signed off with stress and is flying back to the UK to recuperate. The band wish him well and will continue with their performances in Manila and Jakarta.”

The announcement came just days after 1D fans posted pictures on Twitter of Zayn appearing to be holding hands with a mystery blonde girl.

He later denied anything had happened and tweeted: “I'm 22 years old... I love a girl named Perrie Edwards. And there's a lot of jealous fucks in this world I'm sorry for what it looks like x”.

Zayn, 22, caught the next flight home from Hong Kong and landed in Heathrow today at around 5:50am and headed straight home to the house he shares with his fiancée, Little Mix star Perrie Edwards.

However, almost five hours later, Perrie was pictured leaving the house with what looked like her overnight bags.

It’s not looking good, eh?

Fans of the Little Things star are split about his sudden departure from the tour. And it got us all nostalgic...

Since coming third on The X Factor in 2010, Zayn and his bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson have been transformed from run-of-the-mill ‘normals’ into international superstars.

So, to pay homage to Zayn when he was just proper normal – here’s the amazing footage of his first audition.

Singing in front of Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger (who technically created One Direction) nervous Zayn shuffles his feet and looks at the ground. But, he sings like an angel.
