A scorching summer has began in the UK this year - and whilst this is something most of us love(40 degrees is a bit too on the scary side, though), there's the age-old nightmare of dealing with our hair in the heat.

Fear not, as we’ve picked a collection of the latest hair trends to style you through until the winter months, with the aim to keep you as cool as possible. Because our hair doesn't deserve to have to tackle sweat, humidity and heat damage.

A chic summer 'bottleneck' bob

As we're in the summer months, the urge to cut off all our long locks (if we're lucky enough to have them) is tremendously tempting. Less time washing and conditioning our hair? Less time blow drying? Less time brushing? We're in, especially in a heatwave. Oh and the blunter the better, thank you.

Thanks to Kourtney Kardashian 'bottleneck' bobs are in and all over our Insta feed, with many opting for a midi bob (cut very blunt just above the collarbone). It seems that a lot of people are opting for a less drastic take on a bob hair cut, as it has the added promise of growing before autumn begins.

Baby braids

Plaits are back with vengeance, but if you think the mermaid and french versions are way too fiddly, cute boho braids are here to save the day. Simply plait sections in the front of your hair and use a small drop of mousse on the ends. Hailey Bieber, who?

Curtain bangs

Don't want to do a full Megan McKenna and cut a full fringe in (even though she looks incredible)? Well curtain bangs or floaty fringes give shape to the face and are incredibly low maintenance.

This style of 'bangs' is parted down the middle, often framing your face on both sides. These textured bangs are a little bit longer so they flow naturally into your hair. Fancy channelling your 70s style icon? Grow them out a little to get the "undone" look.

Natural texture and heatless curls

2022 is the summer to embrace your natural curls, as the hair trend of the summer is to put down all your tools and let your hair do its thing, no matter how "unruly" it is.

Heatless curl hacks have grown in popularity and we've got loads of hacks that will create waves and curls without heat.

The braided ponytail

If it's good enough for influencers, it's good enough for us. Spruce up your summer ponytail by transforming it into the perfect plaited pony. You'll also get the added bonus of next day waves.

Fancy something a little extra? Try the bubble pony, using hair ties (the same colour as your hair) tied down the length of the ponytail to create smaller, round sections that look like bubbles.

Take care of your hair

Finally, the most important tip you can take on board this summer is to take care of your hair. Sun, sea and sand are just a few summer essentials that can play havoc with your locks. Whilst you can protect your hair with SPF/UV Block shampoos, you can also buy specific sun-protection treatments for your hair. It's definitely worth chatting to your stylist about this - they should be able to advise what sort of products would work with your hair type. It's also worth avoiding applying heat to your hair when possible - so go natural and rock the curls to ensure hair isn't absolutely frazzled and overstyled come autumn.
