Plait’s all folks…

We’re getting dangerously close to the season of the up-do…now if complicated chignons and gravity defying twists and curls scare you then you’ll be glad to hear that this season the humble plait is having a major revival. Scott Ade from Hersheson’s answers our most pressing plait problems….

A fishtail plait looks tricky- is it?

The easiest way to do a fishtail plait is to pull all of your hair round to one side of the nape of your neck & brush through thoroughly.

Then split the hair into 2 even 'main sections'. Next take small even sections from the outer-side of your 'main sections' & cross them alternately over the front of the 'main section' you just took it from & into the other main section.

Proceed down the rest of the sections in the same way to the bottom. Alternatively buy a Hershesons fishtail braid!

How can I create texture in my plait?

To make a freshly done plait look a little more undone & lived in you can just pull it apart a bit & rough up the texture with your fingers to create a few stray ends.

** What’s the hottest plait trend for this season?**

This autumn I'm loving the simplicity & high impact of rope braids. Just split your ponytail into two even sections, twist each section into a top & then twist them around one another.

I only have two minutes what should I do?

Do a basic plait then twist it up into a bun. Or if you have a young friend into loom bands- get them to braid your hair like a loom band!
